Local Kmart and Sears Stores closing

According to a statement from Sears Holdings, local Kmart and Sears stores will be closing in Spring 2017. However, the only local stores that will be closing is the Kmart and Sears Stores in Jefferson City.

The release from Sears Holdings indicates the closures will be completed by the end of March.

In the statement that ABC 17 News received, Sear Holdings says, “The decision to close stores is a difficult but necessary step as we take actions to strengthen the Company’s operations and fund its transformation. Many of these stores have struggled with their financial performance for years and we have kept them open to maintain local jobs and in the hopes that they would turn around.”
