Bitterly cold Wednesday, snow chance

Bitterly cold air will start the day Wednesday as temperatures fall into the upper teens in the early morning. Northwesterly winds will generate wind chills in the single digits early Wednesday. Afternoon temperatures will only reach the mid to upper 20s as the breeze makes it feel more like the upper teens to low 20s under partly cloudy skies.

We will be dry during the day Wednesday but overnight there is a chance of light snow. Snow is expected to spread over the area from the west as early as midnight in western Missouri, spreading east and south through daybreak Thursday. At this time it looks like it will be light with a half inch or less in most areas. However, a stripe of one inch snowfall is possible.

This is something to watch for the Thursday morning commute since it could be slick on roads early due to the light snow. Please check back for updates on timing and amounts here and on our ABC17 News Facebook page.
