Mild, mainly dry holiday weekend

A cold front will move through Saturday morning, bringing clouds and cooler temperatures. There is a slight chance of showers south of HWY 54 from 6-10 AM but if rain develops, it will be very light with only a few hundredths of an inch. Temperatures will be above freezing Saturday morning so no problems are expected on roads. High temperatures Saturday will range from near 40 north of I-70 to the upper 40s south.

It will be cold and dry to ring in 2017 with temperatures in the upper 20s at midnight with nearly calm winds and mostly clear skies. Winds will shift to the south, bringing temperatures up into the mid to upper 40s Sunday under partly cloudy skies. It will stay dry Sunday but rain chances increase after 10 PM from the south as showers move in with warmer air.
