Friday Morning December 30

TODAY: It will be a colder morning as temperatures fall to the upper 20s. A southwesterly breeze will pick up today bringing an elevated fire risk for those west of US 63. A Red Flag Warning will be valid from 11AM-5PM for the counties of Benton, Morgan, and Camden where humidity will fall under 25%. Coupled with gusty southwest winds, outdoor burning is highly discouraged today. Plenty of sun though will warm temperatures near 50 today.

TONIGHT: This evening will be mostly clear to those along I-70 and south, meanwhile clouds will start to increase to those north ahead of the next cold front to move in on Saturday. Lows overnight will be mild in the upper 30s with southwest wind near 10 mph.

EXTENDED: As another cold front moves in this weekend, moisture will return ahead of it from the south but looks light. There is a slight chance of light rain Saturday morning southeast of HWY 54, with the better chance near I-44. Temperatures will be above freezing so problems are not expected for travel from this moisture. High temperatures will reach the mid-upper 40s Saturday, cooling to the lower 40s New Year’s Day. Sunday looks dry with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Moisture moves in Sunday night with increasing rain chances into Monday as temperatures warm to the lower 50s. Our next arctic blast hits Tuesday with falling temperatures and a slight chance of morning rain. Bitterly cold air will move in by next Wednesday with daytime highs below freezing, only reaching into the 20s and lower teens at night.
