TONIGHT: Clouds will clear with low temperatures falling to near 30 as winds increase from the west-northwest to 15 mph by morning.
THURSDAY: It will be cooler and windy Thursday with highs in the low to mid 40s under mostly sunny skies. Westerly winds of 15-20 mph will gust as high as 30 mph. Due to dry air in place, an elevated fire risk is possible, and outdoor burning should be avoided.
EXTENDED: As another cold front moves in this weekend, moisture will return ahead of it from the south but looks light. There is a slight chance of light rain or rain/snow mix early Saturday morning southeast of HWY 54, with the better chance near I-44. Temperatures will be above freezing so problems are not expected for travel from this moisture. High temperatures will reach the mid-upper 40s Saturday and lower 40s New Year’s Day. There is a chance of showers Sunday with a better rain chance late Sunday night into Monday. If light rain moves in earlier in the morning, we’ll need to keep an eye on ice south of I-70 early Sunday as temperatures look to be below 32. Our next arctic blast hits next week with falling temperatures Tuesday and a slight chance of rain and snow. Bitterly cold air will move in by next Wednesday with daytime highs below freezing.
