Jefferson City Salvation Army’s campaign ends tomorrow, thousands from goal
The Jefferson City Salvation Army said it still needs more than $40,000 for its Red Kettle campaign to stay fully funded in 2017.
“Meeting that 100% is essential for us to continue running all current programs and services,” said Lt. Christopher White, Corps Officer. “While we have seen an uptake in large donations with several donors giving $5,000+ gifts, it would take a Christmas miracle to reach our goal by Christmas Day.”
At this time last year, the campaign had brought in $25,000 more than this year. Lt. White believes this year’s weather has played a role in the shortfall.
“…the icy rain over what is normally our biggest weekend of the season meant that less people were out and of those who braved the elements, less people gave,” said Lt. White.
The campaign is set to end Saturday at 4:00 p.m. To donate, just look for the red kettle.
