Friday Afternoon, December 23

TONIGHT: A DENSE FOG ADVISORY is in effect for Benton, Camden, Maries, Miller, Morgan, Phelps, and Pulaski counties from 9 PM this evening until 9 AM Saturday. Isolated showers east of 63 are possible until midnight, then expect dry conditions. Clouds will stay with us overnight with temperatures in the mid 30s. Near freezing is possible north of I-70 where slick spots are possible again early on Saturday. Winds look to remain from the south under 8 mph.

SATURDAY: We’ll start of Christmas Eve on a dry note, but the clouds will stick around. Any fog that hangs around should diminish as we head into the 10 AM timeframe. Be cautious if you live north of 70 and you are getting out the door for travel, as lows near or below freezing overnight could create slick spots. Winds will be out of the southeast under 10 mph, with a high in the mid to upper 40s.

EXTENDED: Christmas looks breezy & warm with temperatures in the mid to upper 50s, possibly near 60. Two rounds of showers and storms are possible. The first in the morning will occur from 7AM-11AM lifting from the south. We’ll have some dry time in the afternoon before an approaching cold front moves in Sunday night, bringing a line of thunderstorms from 7PM-Midnight. There is a Marginal Risk for Severe Weather at this time west of US 63 for the potential of damaging 60 mph winds. Winds of 40 mph or greater however can impact vehicles, cause debris on roads, and impact holiday decor. We’ll be keeping a close eye on Sunday night. Total rainfall amounts for the weekend are expected to come in at 0.50″ near I-70 with higher amounts of 1″ across the Ozarks, I-44, and north of HWY 24.
