Police respond to multiple shots heard, fired calls on Newton Drive
Since June, there have been five shots heard calls and one shots fired calls to Columbia police on Newton Drive, according to the Columbia police dispatch page.
This morning, officers spoke with multiple residents in the area who reported hearing “popping” sounds. Officers did not find any shell casings or bullet holes.
In October, there was a string of shots heard calls around Columbia and Boone County, including one on Newton Drive. Officers found one home that had been hit by bullets.
In September, police were dispatched to 2001 Newton Drive to respond to a shooting. Two witnesses saw Majikwon Morales and another man arguing back and forth while the man was at his mailbox.
In June, ABC 17 News saw a heavy police presence on Newton after a call of shots heard in the area. Police on scene did not find evidence of a shooting and said it was likely fireworks.
