World War II Vet gets honorary high school diploma

A World War II veteran who didn’t get to graduate with his high school class, received an honorary diploma Tuesday.

Douglass High School presented the diploma and medallion to Walter Rolley Jr. at the Blind Boone home.

Rolley’s daughter, Madeline, was instrumental in making the day possible.

“When I found out that this was going to take place, my heart was filled with joy,” said Madeline Rolley. “I’m thankful that it all came together.”

Rolley was unable to graduate after he was called to service.
