Sunday Evening, December 18
TONIGHT: An arctic high pressure system is building itself into the region, so you can expect the cold temperatures to stick around. Mostly clear skies tonight with another frigid night expected. Thanks to subsiding winds that will remain variable through the night as high pressure settles in, wind chill values will only be about 5 below zero. A low of 1 tonight, with isolated spots bottoming out below zero.
MONDAY: Each day this week temperatures will be slowly climbing. Monday starts off cold, hovering around the zero degree mark. We will be warming up during the daytime hours, about 15 degrees warmer than your Sunday, as high pressure pushes off to the east and winds become southerly. Temperatures still not making it above freezing, with the high at 25 degrees.
EXTENDED: Temperatures will continue to climb, as we finally break the freezing mark by Tuesday afternoon. We’ll continue to see a warming pattern carry us through this week, with highs topping out a few degrees above average. Practically all of this week will remain dry, but watching our next system take shape as we head into the Christmas Weekend. It’s likely that this weekend we’ll keep the above average temperatures in the forecast, but we could see a few flurries as we head from Saturday night into Christmas morning.
