TODAY: It will be a colder morning as air temperatures fall to the low teens for the morning commute, with a few spots with an air temperature close to 10. The wind chill will range from 5-10 with light easterly winds this morning. We’ll have sunshine for the early morning, with clouds increasing late morning and through noon. Forecast highs look to stay below 32 for those north of the Missouri River. Winds from the west/northwest reach up to 10 mph in the afternoon with wind chills in the low 20s.
TONIGHT: Scattered clouds look likely tonight with wind chill falling below 10 by 11PM. Overnight winds look to be under 5 mph. Temperatures will drop to 10-12 overnight with a wind chill around 2-5 by Thursday morning.
EXTENDED: It’s even colder Wednesday night through Thursday as arctic air settles in. Lows will drop to near 10 Wednesday night and only reach the low to mid 20s Thursday with mostly cloudy skies. It will be breezy and cold Friday with rising temperatures overnight as a warm front moves across the area, bringing a chance for rain and isolated thunder through early Saturday. Temperatures will reach into the mid 40s early Saturday morning before 9AM, then quickly drop into the 30s by afternoon and single digits overnight as another arctic blast moves in. A wintry mix changing to snow is possible afternoon and evening. By Sunday morning a northwest breeze and dry air takes hold as high pressure starts to return and sunshine, along with frigid temperatures with highs in the upper teens, making it likely the coldest day so far.
