Lincoln hires Steven A. Smith as head football coach

Lincoln University introduced Steven A. Smith as their new head football coach on Tuesday. Smith comes from Albany State, where he spent the last four years as the Golden Rams’ offensive coordinator.

Smith was an assistant coach for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2012 under Romeo Crennel. He’s also been an assistant at Tennessee State, Delta State and Virginia State.

Smith is the first full-time head coach since the Blue Tigers fired Mike Jones. The former Mizzou Tiger and Super Bowl XXXIV hero went 8-51 as Lincoln’s coach before his dismissal.
