Car flips in Columbia crash, driver arrested
UPDATE (12/4): CPD confirmed Gary Taylor was the driver arrested in Saturday night’s crash. He’s since bonded out of the Boone County Jail.
ORIGINAL (12/3): Columbia Police confirm a man was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after crashing his car in the 600 block of West Stewart Road.
Police and fire units responded to the crash around 11:30 p.m.
Emergency responders found the car flipped over near the intersection of Stewart and Westwood Avenue. A light pole was also damaged.
A CPD officer said the driver told police he swerved to miss a deer.
Officers blocked off the intersection while they investigated and worked to clear the scene.
