Active weather pattern with chance of snow on Wednesday

The first few days of December have been right around average temperature wise, but that is set to change in the coming days. There is a very active weather pattern set up for the start of the week. Through Tuesday we expect chances of rain, but there is a chance of snow in the forecast for Wednesday. After the first snowfall this weekend, this will be the second snowfall of the season.

This is all due to a trough that will begin to dig into the United States during the start of the week. As this trough works its way into mid-Missouri, northerly flow will pump in Arctic air from Canada. This is when we will start to see temperatures drop drastically. A passing surface front will give us a chance of snow for Wednesday afternoon. As of now, snow amounts are looking light. The coldest air will arrive after the passage of this front. For Thursday and Friday, the daytime highs won’t exceed freezing. Into the evening hours we can expect temperatures dropping into the teens.

The ABC17 Stormtrack Weather team will continue to track and keep you updated as this system approaches.
