Wrong-way crash in eastern Missouri kills 3

SULLIVAN, Mo. (AP) – Three people, including a 2-year-old Texas boy, have died in a wrong-way crash in eastern Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred early Sunday in Franklin County when a car traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 44 struck the left front corner of a minivan.

The patrol identifies those killed in the crash as 26-year-old Robert S. Batson of Sullivan, 32-year-old Sushma Settipalli and 2-year-old Mahidhar Settipalli. The patrol says Batson was in the car that was traveling the wrong way on the highway, and the Settipallis, of Plano, Texas, were in the minivan.

The patrol says five other occupants in the minivan sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.
