Woman linked to Welcome Inn homicide

UPDATE 5:00 p.m.: The Boone County Prosecutor’s Office has formally charged Jaclyn Rose with first degree murder and armed criminal action in connection to the death of Gregory Moore. Moore was found in his room at the Welcome Inn with a gunshot wound. She is being held on a 1 million dollar cash only bond.

According to police, Rose is seen on surveillance video as the last person to leave Moore’s room before his body was found the next day.

According to court documents, a witness told police he was supposed to meet with Moore in Moore’s room the night of the homicide. The witness told police he was approached by a white female who had left Moore’s room. The witness told police he and the woman spoke briefly and the witness left without speaking with Moore.

Police say Moore left his room and went to his vehicle the same time the female suspect entered Moore’s room. Police also interviewed a second witness who was seen entering Moore’s room after the female suspect and Moore re-entered the room. In his interview, the second witness told police Moore did not seen nervous or acting abnormally. He told police he did not see anyone else in the room.

After the second witness was seen leaving the room on surveillance, court documents say a group of people outside of Moore’s room “all look in the direction of (Moore’s room) as though they heard something.” The document goes on to read, the female suspect left Moore’s room a short while after that.

One witness also told police she believed Rose and Moore used to be in an intimate relationship but “more recently she had just been purchasing drugs” from Moore.

Police arrested Rose the night of Nov. 16, the night the homicide occurred, on unrelated charges. During that arrest, a cellphone was found on Rose. Police say Rose refused to say who the phone belonged to. A search warrant was served on the phone and police were able to verify the phone belonged the Moore.
