Mizzou star running back arrested for marijuana possession
UPDATE (1:15 p.m.): Head coach Barry Odom said Damarea Crockett is suspended for Missouri’s game vs. Arkansas this week. Odom said if his players are arrested during the season, the players will be suspended for that week’s game.
UPDATE (11:29 a.m.): A Mizzou Football spokesperson said the program is aware of Crockett’s arrest and will handle the matter internally.

COLUMBIA- Mizzou freshman running back Damarea Crockett was arrested early Sunday morning for allegedly possessing 35 grams or less of marijuana. The arrest comes hours after Mizzou’s 63-37 loss to Tennessee.
According to MUPD Major Brian Weimer, officers were patrolling campus Sunday morning when they saw Crockett in his car. Weimer said officers smelled a marijuana-like odor when they approached Crockett, whose car was parked in campus lot AV-14 near Ashland Road. After officers searched the car, they found 35 grams or less of marijuana according to Weimer. Crockett was arrested at 4:17 a.m. and released on summons.
Possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana is a Class A misdemeanor according to Missouri statutes.
A Mizzou football spokesperson did not respond immediately to a request for comment. Missouri Football Coach Barry Odom is expected to address reporters at 1 p.m. on Monday.
Crockett is coming off a record-setting performance on Saturday. The MU freshman ran for 225 yards, setting a new single-game rushing record for Missouri freshmen. He also set the program’s single-season rushing record for a freshman.
Mizzou faces Arkansas at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
