Large building fire in St. Joseph

A large building fire has evacuated parts of St. Joseph, Mo., about an hour north of Kansas City.

News-PressNow.com is reporting crews are trying to safely collapse the walls of the Pioneer Building near Fifth and Francis streets. So far, it appears to be empty with no injuries reported.

Crews were called just after 10 a.m. Monday, emptying the nearby law firm and cutting off electricity to certain customers.

The property was on the market after redevelopment plans stalled between the city and the current out-of-town owner.
