Emergency crews respond to tree fire near home in Boone County, flames showing
UPDATE 7:11am: Firefighters say the tree fire is now under control, but still burning.
Captain Martina Pounds with the Boone County Fire Protection District says someone in the area was doing some outdoor burning and embers later got on a hollow tree. That then caused the large tree fire.
Captain Pounds says someone driving by say the fire and reported it to law enforcement. She says no one had to be evacuated from the nearby home due to the fire.
Fire crews are now starting to clear the scene.
UPDATE 6:23am: Several firefighters are on the scene of a tree fire near a home in south Boone County.
Flames were still showing in the tree around 6:30am, nearly an hour after crews first responded to New Haven Road.
The tree appears to be near a home.

ORIGINAL: Fire crews are responding to reports of a tree on fire in Boone County Thursday.
Dispatch records indicate at least five emergency units are responding to New Haven Road right now.
The tree is reportedly in the 6700 block and crews were called out around 5:20 Thursday morning.
Reports indicate the fire is not threatening any structures or vehicles.
