October jobs report shows continued growth in Missouri

The Missouri Department of Economic Development released the October 2016 Jobs Report which indicated record growth in the Show-Me state.

According to the report, nonfarm payroll employment grew by 9,300 jobs, which reaches a new record high for the state with 2,838,500 jobs. The report also showed that in just the last 12 months, Missouri has added 50,900 new jobs.

Governor Jay Nixon said, “The latest jobs report showing a record number of Missourians working and the 50,900 jobs gained in one year demonstrates the significant growth we continue to make, helped by our investments in quality education, workforce training, and economic development incentives.”

Missouri’s unemployment rate also dropped to 5.1 percent in October.
