Children found safe after Amber Alert, mother is arrested for abduction
UPDATE: 11/15, 11 a.m:
The Benton County Sheriffs Department has confirmed with ABC17 news that Wilson was the mother of the children.
Monday evening, Benton County initially responded to a report of a woman badly beaten lying on the road just north of Warson.
When deputies arrived, they were told the woman had custody over her two grandchildren and they along with her car were missing.
The victim had allowed her daughter, Carmelita Wilson to see her children, and when Wilson had stopped by the victim reported she was beaten and stabbed. The victim was lifeflighted to a local hospital for serious injuries and an Amber Alert was issued.
Early morning on Tuesday, Sedalia Police spotted the missing vehicle and began a chase as Wilson failed to stop for the officers.
Spoke strips were deployed, but Wilson jumped the curb and struck another vehicle.
The children are currently in the custody of Child Protective Services.
Wilson is currently in the Benton County Jail with a bond of $250,000. Additional charges are pending.
UPDATE: 11/15: ABC 17 News checked public charging records Tuesday morning and found that the abductor Carmelita Wilson is charged with abuse or neglect of a a child.
The charge was filed out of Independence, Missouri back in 2015.
Public records show Wilson had a pre-trial conference scheduled for Thursday morning on the abuse charge.
It’s unclear if Wilson will face additional charges for the alleged abduction.
UPDATE, 1:17 a.m. Both children were found safe and Wilson was taken into custody.
ORIGINAL STORY: An Amber Alert has been issued for two children abducted in Warsaw.
It happened at 6:14 p.m. on Highway 00.
Authorities are looking for Gabriel Longleywilson, a 9-year-old white male, and Serenity Longleywilson, a 7-year-old white female.
The suspect is Carmelita Wilson, a 39-year-old with blond hair, blue eyes, and approximately 5’6″.
She is believed to be driving a red 1998 GMC Jimmy with the Missouri license plate “CL6X4F.”
