Three injured, one arrested in suspected drunk driving crash

Columbia police are investigating a crash that sent three people to the hospital.

The crash happened at 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Providence and Stewart.

ABC 17 News crews saw a red pick-up truck with heavy front end damage and a black Scion car with rear-end damage.

Police on scene told ABC 17 News they arrested one driver on suspicion of drunk driving. One girl was taken to the hospital via ambulance and two others went on their own. Officers on scene did not have the extend of the girls’ conditions.

The intersection was closed while officers spoke to witnesses and cleared the area. Traffic was redirected for drivers heading south on Providence. Northbound traffic was not affected.
