Boone County candidate forum to focus on civil liberties

Several Boone County candidates are participating in a forum Thursday night that’s expected to be focused more on civil rights.

The event was organized by the Missouri Civil Liberties Association (MOCLA) along with Race Matters, Friends; Mid-Missouri NORML; and the Boone County Libertarians.

Candidates who are participating in Thursday night’s forum include Janet Thompson, associate commissioner District 2; Brenndan Riddles, associate commissioner District 2; Brianna Lennon, associate commissioner District 1; Tom Pauley, state representative District 44; Cheri Toalson Reisch, state representative District 44; William Lee, state representative District 45; Don Waterman, state representative District 46; Sean O’Toole, state treasurer; Judy Baker, state treasurer; Gordon Christensen, U.S. representative District 4.

Advocates for and against the voter ID amendment on this year’s ballot are also expected to speak at the forum.

The event is happening from 6-9 p.m. at the Columbia Country Club.
