Police respond to bank robbery in south Columbia
UPDATE: 11:00 a.m.: Columbia police have confirmed an armed robbery Wednesday at United Credit Union at 2909 Falling Leaf Lane.
Police were called at 9:39 a.m. about an armed robbery. Their investigation revealed two male suspects entered the business. One suspect was armed with a gun, the other with a “weapon”. Police would not specify what type of weapon.
Police said one of the suspects grabbed a teller and demanded money. The men got away with an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing in a vehicle. No one was hurt during the robbery.
Investigators are working on description of the vehicle in which the men fled.
Police said they expect to see an increase in robberies in advance of the holidays.
ORIGINAL STORY: ABC 17 News has reporters at the scene of an armed bank robbery Wednesday near Highway 63 and Grindstone Parkway in south Columbia.
Police were called to a holdup with a weapon around 9:40 a.m. at United Credit Union right off the highway on Falling Leaf Lane. There were reports the robber left in a white car.
