Lincoln University officials confirm campus put on lock down overnight after threat
Lincoln University officials confirm the campus was on lock down overnight Wednesday over a report of a suspicion person.
Officials sent an alert to students just before 2:00 Wednesday morning.
A Lincoln University spokeswoman says the campus was locked down due to an investigation into a suspicious person reportedly traveling to campus.
An alert sent to students and staff that a viewer sent to ABC 17 News said the police departments “were investigating a threat of a white male en route to campus to cause harm to students.”
The spokeswoman says Lincoln University Police and the Jefferson City Police Department determined the threat was minimized after about 90 minutes in lockdown.
Lincoln University officials now say the situation is stable and the campus is safe.
The Jefferson City Police Department confirms they were on the way to investigate a potential suspect this morning, but say the investigation was called off soon after.
ABC 17 News has called The Lincoln University Police Department to find out if officer have made any arrests in the incident. So far, we have not heard back.
