Man accused of elder abuse, robbery back in Boone County jail

A man accused of beating up an elderly man is back in the Boone County jail.

A detective with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department says deputies picked up Driss Zarhouni from the Cooper County jail yesterday where he was being held on suspicion of elder abuse, robbery and stealing.

The detective says the charges stem from an incident that happened in late spring. He says Zarhouni went to an elderly man’s home on Clark Lane, beat him up and stole his truck.

The detective says Zarhouni was later arrested in Cooper County, where he was held until Boone County deputies picked him up yesterday.

He’s held on a combined total of a half million dollar bond.

ABC 17 News is working to get a probable cause statement to find out more about what led up to the arrest and charges.
