Fire at Cole County Jail, crews on scene

UPDATE 10:32 a.m.: Jefferson City Fire Department Division Chief Jason Turner told ABC 17 News that smoke is visible inside of the jail. Crews are working to contain it, and there are no injuries.

ORIGINAL STORY: A fire has broken out in Cole County Jail Friday morning. The cause of the fire is still unknown, and details haven’t been confirmed by authorities.

ABC 17 News is on scene and has observed fire and medical authorities surrounding and blocking off the perimeter of the jail.
