Centralia police warn residents of scam

The Centralia Police Department is warning residents of a possible financial scam on Thursday.

According to the department’s Facebook page, someone is contacting Centralia residents claiming to be an official with the city.

The person offers either grant money, or financial assistance, which requires the victim to wire $400 in order to receive the grant.

The department said Centralia doesn’t have a program like this and isn’t offering financial assistance to past or current residents.

If someone does contact you with a similar offer, you are asked to call the Centralia Police Department at 573-682-2132.
