UPDATE: CPD confirm shooting in Central Columbia
UPDATE 10/14, 10:08 a.m: Columbia police confirmed that officers were dispatched to the area of Worley Street and Oak Street at 1:54 a.m. on Friday morning.
While officers were heading to the scene, they were alerted that there was a gun shot victim outside of the police department.
When officers got to the department, they located a vehicle with multiple bullet holes in the passenger side door. Four people were in the car, and the female driver was the gun shot victim. She sustained a minor cut to her shin because of a bullet. She did not go to the hospital.
Through investigating, officers confirmed that the vehicle was traveling South on Garth Avenue towards Sexton Road when multiple bullets hit her car.
Police say someone in the victim’s car reported seeing a male suspect holding a handgun just north of the Garth and Sexton intersection before the shooting.
An officer found one shell casing north of a home in the 100 block of Sexton Road.
UPDATE 10/14, 8:15 a.m: ABC17 has confirmed shots were heard on North Garth Ave and Oak Street around 1:53 Friday morning according to the public Columbia Police Dispatch.
It also shows a separate call was made to Worley and Oak Street for shots heard around the same time.
ABC17 is still reaching out to Columbia Police for further details.
ORIGINAL STORY: ABC17 is hearing reports of a shooting in the 800 block of North Garth Ave.
The reports started coming in a little before 2 a.m.
The reports are stating two shell casings were found and evidence of a car was hit.
