Warming trend leads to rain chances

Temperatures quickly rise Friday and into the weekend as winds shift around to the south, ahead of a developing storm system over the Central Plains. During the warming trend, there are a couple chances of rain and t-storms as waves of low pressure pass through.

An upper level wave will track across far southern Missouri Thursday night into Friday morning, bringing rain as far north as Highway 50. Light showers are possible after 3 AM through noon Friday for the Lake of the Ozarks area but rainfall amounts would be under two tenths of an inch.

Our next chance of showers and t-storms comes Saturday evening and overnight as a cold front sinks south into northern Missouri. Storms are expected to form during the afternoon in northern Missouri, moving south through the evening hours to near I-70. It’s possible that the cold front will stall and storms will stay north of I-70 Saturday night, ending by early Sunday morning. We will have updates on weekend rain chances as new forecast data comes in.
