Jefferson City police confirm overnight shooting
Jefferson City police are investigating a shooting that sent one man to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to police, Joint Communications received several calls about a shots fired on the 400 block of Vetter Lane around 4:30 a.m..
When they arrived, police discovered there had been a shooting and got a call from a local Jefferson City hospital that they were treating a man with a gunshot wound and transferring him to a Columbia hospital.
ABC 17 News spoke with several residents who heard several gunshots this morning.
Kelsey Bealer, has lived on Vetter Lane for several years now and says the neighborhood is normally quiet so hearing gunshots ring out had him frightened, prompting him to call 9-1-1 immediately.
“I was in panic mode, I called dispatchers immediately and before I hung up JCPD was already here,” Bealer said.
Residents say they saw anywhere from 100- 150 people on Vetter Lane Saturday morning. Residents also told ABC 17 News the home is rented out by Lincoln University students that seemed to be having a party.
Police said in a press release they don’t have any suspect or motive information currently, but the investigation is ongoing.
