Vice Presidential Candidates square off in debate
The Vice Presidential candidates squared off Tuesday night in Farmville, Virginia – and it got heated.
Senator Tim Kaine said, “I can’t imagine how governor Pence can defend the insult-driven selfish me-first style of Donald Trump.”
“Senator, you and Hillary Clinton would know a lot about an insult driven campaign,” Mike Pence, Indiana’s Governor, responded.
It was just one exchange in the evening’s only scheduled debate for the vice presidential candidates in the November 8 general election.
The country is 34 days away from calling one of those two men the new vice president of the united states.
Democrat Kaine and Republican Pence debated issues ranging from their presidential candidate’s controversies to the economy and immigration to ISIS.
Pence said President Barack Obama deserves credit for bringing Osama Bin Laden to justice, but said Hillary Clinton is to blame for “creating a vacuum” to allow the Islamic state to grow.
Kaine said Clinton is the only presidential candidate who can confront Islamic state group militants, and said Donald Trump’s temperament isn’t suited for the role, pointing out that Trump engages often in verbal fights on social media.
ABC 17 News will have a crew on scene for the second presidential debate this Sunday, October 9 in St. Louis.
