Matthew makes Landfall

Early this morning at approximately 6AM CDT, Hurricane Matthew made landfall in southwest Haiti with sustained winds of 145 mph just west of Les Cayes near Debaucher & Les Anglais. Matthew is expected to track northwest later tonight and Wednesday. Matthew will impact Cuba today and move towards portions of the southeastern and central Bahamas tonight and Wednesday.

The latest track of forecast models indicate this will impact the Florida Keys and possible Florida’s peninsula, the Carolinas, and up through the Delmarva Peninsula from Thursday through Sunday.

From Friday night through Saturday night amounts over 5+” of rainfall looks possible from eastern South Carolina and North Carolina, where upwards close to 10″ looks possible near Myrtle Beach. The track and path will likely change through the weekend. We’ll continue to update with more information. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
