Columbia man arrested on suspicion of beating significant other with a hammer

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department was called to a hotel at the Midway Travel Plaza Friday night for reports of an assualt.

Deputies arrested Steven Holcomb on suspicion of beating his significant other with a hammer. Authorities said the victim had visible injuries but refused medical treatment.

Holcomb is facing charges of armed criminal action and second degree domestic assault.

He’s currently being held in the Boone County Jail on a $20,000 cash only bond.
