Small fire on Route E starts on mattress in child’s bedroom; no one injured

A small fire started Thursday on a mattress inside a child’s corner bedroom in a home on Route E, authorities said.

A child and two adults were home at the time of the fire and were able to use a fire extinguisher to put out the fire before units arrived.

There were no injuries, and firefighters were able to douse the mattress with a garden hose once they arrived on the scene.
