Utility customers receive disconnect notices in error

The City of Columbia confirmed several utility customers received disconnect notices by error.

According to the city, some budget billing customers received the notices because a system flag was not set to exempt them when the amount they paid was less than the amount due.

The system has been corrected, but the city said additional customers could received notices due to a delay of when the notices were sent and the problem was recognized.

Customers should call 573-874-7380 or visit the Utility Customer Service Office at 701 E. Broadway from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday .
