Lafayette interchange set to open Tuesday

The new Lafayette Interchange on Highway 50 is set to open Tuesday after some rain delays.

The next scheduled closure is the Clark Avenue overpass, which is set to close on Thursday after the morning rush hour.

The Clark Avenue overpass will be the last of six bridges to have improvements be made to it.

Both construction sites are a part of a 2 year and $20 million Lafayette Interchange Project.

Not only did the project fix bridges, it also added an additional lane to a section of the Whitton Expressway.

The final pieces to the Lafayette Interchange project will be mounting sound walls along Route 50/63 and rebuilding the Greenway Pedestrian trail, which is along the route.

The Missouri Department of Transportation posted a map showing the completed areas and the ones that still need work.
