Small private plane lands safely after engine failure

UPDATE: The plane did not land at Columbia Regional Airport, but rather in a field seven miles East of the airport. The field was close to Route J in Callaway County.

ORIGINAL STORY: A small private plane landed safely at Columbia Regional Airport Monday afternoon after its engine failed.

The emergency landing happened at 4:20 p.m. Monday afternoon. It wasn’t known what caused the engine to lose power.

Crews responded quickly to the scene, and ABC 17 News is working hard to find out more.
