House fire on Madeline Street in Jefferson City
UPDATE 9/6 11:47 a.m.: The estimated cost of the damage is $30,000, which includes property and content damage.
ORIGINAL STORY: Fire crews were on the scene of a house fire in Jefferson City Monday.
It happened on Madeline Street around 3:30 Monday afternoon.
According to Asst. Chief Matthew Bowden with the Jefferson City Fire Department, the damage was likely caused by an unattended barbecue grill that had been used earlier in the day.
The fire started on the upper deck and moved into the attic. Damage was done to the rear of the home and kitchen.
No one was hurt, but a resident and pet were displaced.
