Man arrested after allegedly stealing truck, leading authorities on chase

Callaway County deputies arrested a man Wednesday morning after allegedly leading authorities on a chase.

Deputies say around 8:00 Wednesday morninga Holts Summit resident reported his green Dodge Ram truck stolen from his home.

Deputies say the department put out a description of the truck to deputies and a deputy found it on Redwood Drive in New Bloomfield.

The deputy apparently identified the driver as 24-year-old Joshua Temmen and tried to stop the truck. Temmen then allegedly fled and drove through several yards inside New Bloomfield city limits during which he struck an unoccupied truck and a shed.

Deputies say Temmen caused felony property damage and left the scene both times.

Authorities say while deputies were pursing Temmen, he threw out a bag containing suspected stolen property along with a firearm.

Deputies say they pursued the truck where Temmen drove through a soybean field in the area of Golden Village Drive, abandoned the truck, and fled on foot.

The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol then held a lengthy search using a helicopter.

Around 9:05 Wednesday morning, deputies say a resident in the area reported seeing a white male hiding in a shed near Redwood Drive.

Deputies say they checked the area and found Temmen hiding in a back yard in the 500 block of Redwood Drive where he was taken into custody.

Temmen is currently in custody at the Callaway County Jail on suspicion of tampering, resisting arrest, resisting arrest causing a substantial risk of injury or death, leaving the scene of an accident (two counts), property damage 1st (two counts), unlawful possession of a firearm, driving while suspended, careless and imprudent driving, lawful to yield to an emergency vehicle and a Jefferson City Police Department warrant for Failure to Appear – no insurance.

Temmen is reportedly held on a $50,145 cash only bond.

Temmen reportedly has previous convictions for burglary and resisting arrest. At the time of his arrest, deputies say he was under the supervision of the MO Board of Probation and Parole.
