Mexico Public Safety Department warns of smartphone app

The Mexico Public Safety Department received a complaint about a smartphone app called “Flinch.”

The department posted on its Facebook page Monday reminding parents to monitor their children’s phones.

ABC 17 News also reached out to the Boone County Cyber Crimes Task Force. A detective says the department has not received a complaint about this app yet.

Flinch is a game that allows the user to video chat with friends or strangers. The players stare at each other and try to make the other person smile. If a player smiles, that person loses the game.

The app asks for access to the phone’s camera, microphone and user’s Facebook account. It also allows in-app purchases. It is available on iTunes and Google Play.
