Brief summer heat, unsettled late week

A warm, moist air mass will move north by mid-week, bringing temperatures up into the low to mid 90s Wednesday and Thursday. Humidity will rise as well with dew points climbing into the mid 70s which will make afternoon temperatures feel more like 100-105.

While we often have hot, sticky days in early August, this round of heat won’t last long. Another cold front will move through Friday as an upper level trough of lower pressure moves in from the west. This will bring a better chance of showers and t-storms from Friday afternoon through Saturday. Temperatures will drop to near 90 Friday and into the mid 80s for the weekend.

The 30 year average high this time of year is 88 with an average low temperature of 67. We’ll be just below the averages this weekend. Record highs in early August are all over 104 degrees, many which were set in 1918 or 1934. You can view the daily weather almanac at abc17news.com.
