Gasconade County man charged with murder
The Gasconade County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a man from Bland with murder and armed criminal action in what authorities describe as a murder and attempted suicide.
According to court documents, at around 6 p.m. Thursday, police went to the Owensville Motor Inn and found Toby Gregory and Inez Gregory in the parking lot. Toby was conscious and had a gunshot in his face; Inez was dead in a parking space in front of one of the rooms.
Police say surveillance video shows Gregory driving up and leaving his car running while he went to the room. The video then reportedly shows Gregory and Inez getting into an argument, with Gregory shooting her inside the room.
At that point, according to police, Inez ran outside, tripped over a parking barricade, and fell to the ground. Officers say the video then shows Gregory shoot his wife several times and kick her while she’s on the ground. Gregory then allegedly pointed the gun under his chin and shot himself one time.
Gregory is currently in the hospital. According to court records, Gregory and Inez filed for a dissolution of their marriage in June.
