Heat returns for the start of August
After a break from the heat and humidity for the end of July, temperatures will start heating up again for the start of August. As the ridge of high pressure aloft builds north into the central states, heat and humidity will also build through the week.
High temperatures will reach the low to mid 90s from Monday through Thursday in Mid-Missouri but not close to the record high temperatures which range from 104 to 108 next week. But when factoring in the humidity, temperatures will feel more like 100-105.
Medium range forecast models indicate this will be a short-lived heat wave as the ridge flattens out late in the week, with temperatures coming back down to near 90 by next weekend.
