Overturned tractor trailer backs up traffic for miles in Cooper County

An overturned tractor trailer backed up traffic for miles on I-70 westbound near mile marker 110 Wednesday.

Traffic was reduced to one lane for a couple hours.

Our ABC 17 News crews on scene spoke to one of the occupants involved in the crash. He said they were carrying a big load and, at one point, swerved to avoid another car, causing the driver to lose control and the trailer to overturn.

One person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The other passengers had a few small cuts, but they did not require medical attention.

Debris from the trailer load was scattered all over the road, but crews were actively working to clear the scene Wednesday morning.
