Gas leak shuts down road in downtown Columbia

A gas leak shut down a road in downtown Columbia Friday.

It happened just before 8:30 Friday morning.

Boone County EMA sent an alert saying 8th street between Walnut and Broadway was temporarily shut down due to the leak.

Employees from a shop in the area told our ABC 17 News crews on scene it was safe, but said the crews were keeping people out as a precaution.

Its unclear what caused it right now.
