Study finds Cole County elected officials underpaid

Commissioners have made it a priority in 2016 to identify any problems with Cole County employee salaries.

The county’s salary commission was presented with the results of a study that concluded the pay for elected officials is set too low.

The study was performed by the Husch Blackwell LLP firm, which recommended Wednesday that the county correct the salaries as part of the 2017 budget process.

The firm also recommended to retroactively adjust salaries for the past five years. The commission did not take any action Wednesday.
