Mizzou AD Mack Rhoades leaving for Baylor

Mizzou Athletic Director Mack Rhoades will leave to take a job at Baylor University in Texas.

PowerMizzou.com broke the news Wednesday afternoon; a statement from UM Interim Chancellor Hank Foley confirmed the departure. In that statement, Foley said Rhoades told him earlier Wednesday about his accepting the job at Baylor. Foley also announced Wren Baker will serve as interim AD at Mizzou.

Just before 3 p.m., the official Twitter account of Baylor Athletics tweeted the following: “Baylor Family, please welcome our new Vice President and Director of Athletics Mack Rhoades to Central Texas.” You can read the full announcement from Baylor here.

Rhoades joined Mizzou in March 2015 to take over the job vacated by Mike Alden. Rhoades oversaw the hiring of Barry Odom as the new head coach of the Mizzou football team.

Baylor’s former athletic director, Ian McCaw, resigned in May following a scandal over how Baylor officials handled sexual assault allegations.
