Storm cleanup for Centralia set to begin Monday

After large storms hit Centralia last week, the city has scheduled crews coming to help clean up the leftover debris.

Crews from the Street Department, Water Department and Electric Department, and private contractors will be collecting tree limbs from curbs and ditches in city streets.

The cleanup assistance is being offered by the Southern Baptist Church Disaster Relief. They will also have volunteers with chainsaws to help with any extra cleanup.

Those who are helped first will be the elderly, disabled, and handicapped.

The city has also set out two yellow dumpsters at the old landfill for residents to dispose of soiled food due to the power being out for days.

Yard waste and anything other than food is not allowed to go in the containers.

The city will also not be enforcing the two-cart limit for trash this week, but all other rules will apply.
