CPD is grieving the loss of the officers killed in the Dallas shooting

After the mass shooting Thursday night that killed five police officers, CPD is mourning with the rest of the nation.

However, CPD officers can’t stop doing their job.

Columbia Police Union Representative, Dale Roberts says that more police officers were killed Thursday in one day then there has been since 9-11.

Roberts stays in contact with a lot of officers, especially during this past week, “A couple of officers expressed frustrations to the point of saying, they are done with this profession and its not worth it.”

The Columbia Police Department is already short staffed and Roberts hopes that they do not lose any officers because they can’t afford to do so.

CPD officers have the option of going to counseling year round, on any occasion.
